Graptemys pseudogeographica kohnii (eng. naziv je Mississippi Map Turtle)
Ovu ćete kornjaču moći naći i pod imenom Graptemys kohnii, ali je to krivo ime.Rasprostranjenost
U prirodi ove kornjače obitavaju u južnom dijelu Sjedinjenih Američkih Država oko rijeke Mississippi.Prirodni okoliš
Koni kornjače su riječna vrsta. Vole čiste rijeke, jezera i mrtvaje sa obilnom vegetacijom i mnoštvom kukaca i riba.Veličina
Razlika u veličini mužjaka i ženki kod ove vrste je posebno izražena. Ženke mogu biti velike do 25 cm, a mužjaci su nešto manji od 15 cm.
PrehranaIzgled
Jedu najviše meso, a stariji i malo biljne hrane. Vole puževe, račiće, crviće i kukce.
Mlade ćete lako prepoznati po nazubljenom oklopu i smeđe-zelenim šarama. Odrasli primjerci zadržavaju šare na koži ali im oklop postaje smeđ. Također nemaju nazubljeni oklop već "šatorasti" izgled.
Napomena
Graptemys pseudogeographica kohnii nije kornjača za početnike. Traži kvalitetnije uvjete od crveno-uhe kornjače i sramežljivija je. Ovoj kornjači nećete moći prići dok se sunča i uvijek će se probati sakriti od vas. Hrvatski naziv joj je koni kornjača.
